Local Interview(Numero Uno): Fashion CRS !

Everyone who knows music, well good music, has heard of CRS - Child Rebel Soldier which consists of Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco (yeah we already see the brilliance in this). The three of them are unbelievably talented, fashionable and individual, so this brings us to the reason we are here today...my friends...small island fashion icons *I know they will get a kick out of that* but its true, The CRS of fashion...Avery the Child...Jason The Rebel and Evan The Soldier...these three are definitely what fashion is about, their style is amazing and inspiring to me also, so I thought I would share with you a little interview I put together so you can get to know the past, present and the future of street fashion in Barbados.

Junior:
Yeah, so we can do the interview...

CRS: Kool, no problem.

Junior: So I need all three of you to answer....so put J: whatever whatever....E: whatever... and A:blah blah !!its only like 10 questions...

CRS: Lord, that's nuff typing but no problem, Let's do this!

Junior: Cool...describe your styles...in a word or sentence...

CRS:
A & E: urban/ prep (open to new ideas).
J: Experimental.

Junior: Sounds good...what would you say is your current favorite piece in your closet ?

CRS:
A: I love my jackets & jeans, without them, I'm not comfortable...they make me feel invincible. lol...like that's me.

E: I love my kickz (goes beyond just sneakers)

J:
I am in love with extra skinny jeans preferably Cheap Monday jeans.

Junior: Alright, this is going really well... Sneakers or Dress Shoes? and why?

CRS:
E: I prefer sneakers because of the different shapes and colours just being able to make an outfit stand-out is amazing.

A: I'm not really a sneaker fein but I stick to the staples when it comes to shoes I must have at least the colour and different styles which would suit the occasions.

J: Sneakers are my first love but I like to go beyond them and just experiment with the different styles of the dressier shoes which would bring out the versatility in my style.

Junior: Honestly guys, this interview is slowly becoming epic...its like you all do interviews everyday...t-shirt or dress shirt ?

CRS: Tees for casual events that we can probably just rock a jacket but preferably dress shirts cause they can be rocked anywhere rolled up, rolled down, opened up with a v-neck...

Junior: I agree ! so...since you all prefer dress shirts, would it be a bow tie, original tie or none at all ?

CRS:
E: Skinny tie or none.

A: Anything lol.

J: Skinny tie.

Junior: Cool...so what music is getting you through the day right now? Any particular album or song?

CRS:
A: Kid Cudi's album is dope along with jay-z.... gets me through the morning, during the day, and night before I sleep.

E:
Anything that catches my ears gets me through.

J: Just anything from rap to trance and house beats.

Junior:
So no particular album at the moment...?

CRS:

E & J: Nope.

Junior: Cool, so Favorite Designer? Favorite Store ? and what is your next purchase ?

CRS:
J: Any pieces from American Apparel and Urban Outfitters, no specific designer, not into the high fashion as yet so I keep it more H&M style.

E: I like any store once the stuff is good quality and to my liking. My next purchase, maybe an acid wash Cheap Monday jeans.

A: My fave designer at the moment is a group from NYC who created this street brand called 10 deep - representing all individuals and people who dare to be different along with Cheap Monday jeans (best jeans in the world) lol.My next purchase, maybe a 10 deep sweater.

Junior:
Does CRS have any inspirations? and what do you think about the fashion around you in Barbados?

CRS:
J: Anything around me that's different is great stuff that stands out. Fashion in barbados ** clears throat** do I have to answer that lol....

Junior:*I silently laughed because I was waiting on that response.*

E: Kanye west has a great impact on my style and fashion in Barbados has potential.

A: Kid Cudi - keeps it simple but still different. My thoughts on fashion in Barbados, has potential but some bajans need to open their minds & imaginations and think beyond the clothing as just a brand but for what they actually represent.

Junior: Well said...alright...what do you think is the worst crime to style or fashion and what trend you dig at the moment?

CRS: People thinking that "SWAG" is style. That's the biggest crime right now, along with the Ralph Lauren Polo people who think that wearing it makes them the hottest shit alive *lol.

CRS: Street style rules right now.

Junior: (*lol)...Swag!! Its funny when someone is labelled swagga boss by wearing a New Era fitted and a Ralph polo lol... well the final two questions now...

Junior: Any advice for people trying to become fashionable and where do you start when you are putting together your ensembles?

CRS: START WITH THE JEANS (*lol) not everything goes with ones jeans.... just be yourself but when we say be yourself don't go wearing pink & red or brown & purple. The more simple you keep it, the more you get out the outfit and that is what's going to express who you are. Oh..also matching isn't also the best choice.

Junior:
I would like to thank you guys for having this interview...hopefully it inspires more to become stylish and maybe get a spot on Stylistic Imagination! Also...just off the top...Rihanna or Amber Rose and Kanye West or Chuck Bass...your picks ?

CRS: Hmmm..... (*lolol) tough one between Amber rose and Rihanna but Kanye West, no doubt! Also, to the first comparison, we would give it to both because they are both versatile and have their own unique style.

Junior:
Well thanks...it was a great interview...it being my first one! it's a good feeling!

CRS: Yeah, no problem guy...any time. Looking forward to doing more stuff with you.

*This interview was carried out because of the obvious flyness of CRS, using Msn...by Junior of Stylistic Imagination...Do You...Utilize your Stylistic Imagination!

Band of Outsiders Spring 2010 – Women's wear

Wow...is all I can say! This collection is also a step in the right direction for anyone who would like to break into the fashion world and be known as a fashionista, the simplicity and the cut of each piece makes this whole collection classic and a worthy addition to anyone's closet. The ability to look high street and still be able to look as if you can be at home on the beach or a yacht is incredible.

Another MUST BUY /10. (Pros & Cons are the same as their menswear collection for Spring 2010.)

Band of Outsiders Spring 2010 – Menswear

Band of Outsiders...this spring collection is simply amazing! I think that every man on the planet can upgrade his style just by purchasing every piece in this collection (lol* I wish I had each look in my closet). The fit of the jackets & shirts are extraordinary and the calm mixed with the bright colours really show spring off well...those interesting tye-dye shirts *:).

I'll will be a bit different with rating this collection because it covers the basics of all the necessary items needed to be known as a well dressed young man. I gave it a – MUST BUY / 10!

Pros: The simplicity, The Fit, The Colours, and It covers the basics one needs in their wardrobe.
Cons: If you own the basics already...it would just be another simple collection.

So where do i find a Band of Outsiders store ??

The Reviews...Spring 2010 - Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang - “ The hyped out kid” Spring 2010 Women's Wear

For all those who don't know, Alexander Wang, he is one of the designers that we have been warned to look out for in the future, I am truly sorry but this collection was a let down. I was left with a taste of confusion in my mouth, eyes and ears...because things were just screaming at me from everywhere.

Pros: Quilted shorts, one or two cropped shirts and a sleeveless mini trench.

Cons: Soooo Much...Horrible Silhouettes, Useless Ideas for clothing for example the belly cutout pants and the corseted sweat top with the billowing arms. ( I constantly ask myself what was he thinking*)

I gave this collection: a well deserved 4/10
*but am i wrong...let me know everyone !!

The Reviews...Spring 2010 - Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

Hmmm...we all know Alexander Mcqueen does his own thing...and we have a strong love/hate relationship with his pieces. Well, that relationship isn't about to change because some of the pieces I absolutely love e.g snug fitting denim jacket, pants with the elastic-esque(can't remember exactly what you call it *lol forgive me*) at the bottom, painted pieces and some of the prints...

although some remind me of those horrible DBZ shirts...

I gave this collection: 6/10
Pros: Unique, Interesting – Painted items, Cool Pants, Great Construction & Fit in some items.
Cons: Wide Leg Suit Pants, Horrible & Embarrassing Prints.
