Menswear FW 2010 - Paris First Set!

Alright guys...it has begun, and it is quite interesting, honestly! I have decided to do this review a little different because I haven't found one collection that has jumped out at me and captured my attention in a great way like some of the ones in Milan. Its not to say that these collections I have seen so far from Paris aren't good, they just haven't spoken to me or my aesthetic as yet, I really hope it does soon because Milan had me on a clothes high, shoes high and accessories high, lets just say I would kinda need rehab right now for the amount of money I would spend if i had it.

Lets Start with Adam Kimmel:

Clown faces and casino games was his vision for this fall/winter 2010, the clothing looked well made classic with a funky twist with the print and the interesting fabric choices. All I can say about this one is...take a look.

Onto Dries Van Noten:

I really liked what was done with the contrasting sleeves on everything from tees, shirts to trench coats, it really gave a unique effect that made it so fun to look at! The collection was simple but it still kept me alive and pretty much wanting most of the looks, also I think the casualness of the slim sweat pant against the dressier tops was a great idea and something i am willing to try in the future. So Dries Van Noten gave me a wonderful start to my perusal of Paris Fashion Week.

Next up is Jean Paul Gaultier:

Let me start by saying...yay! Finally black models on the runway and lots of them...Its great to easily envision myself in the clothing by being able to see them on members of my race(*not saying the other races don't do a great job because they do but it just lets me know also the designers can see me in their clothing). It was a boxing affair at Jean Paul Gaultier, which was a good and bad thing, the shoes a great thing...I definitely want those boots, in all the available colours, but with the ideology of boxing created some poofy shorts that I don't think would look cool on anyone in this age. Some of the looks were really cool though on the flipside, with some nice colour choices and interesting details on the leather and the knits, so all in all a collection that if you take out seperates they could still be very viable choices for your closet.

Continuing with Louis Vuitton:

This is when i started to get my Milan vibe back...it was classic with an edge, great fabrics, cool colours, amazing bags and a really cool pair of boots that i would love to own; all of the above made me enjoy this collection. I also spotted another styling idea which I like which is pants in socks, all those little things kept me fascinated, along with the fact that it was a slightly rugged move for such a luxury fashion house. I could definitely see myself in this collection, its definitely my current favorite of Paris!

Finale ist Victor und Rolf:

I was happy to see the start of this collection as well, but at first not because of the clothing, it was Suzy Menkes, an editor i really look up to sitting in the camera's view...after noticing her and her amazing job...I noticed the amazing ribbed fabric attached to the bottom of the pants leg, i really like this twist and must buy some pants with this edgy detail. The collection was just another cool one with some interesting patterns, prints and quirky details, again very interesting collection with some very notable separates.
